The Baddest Taquero, Part Two

The Baddest Taquero, Part Two

Isidro Salas’ Father. Photo taken in June, 1989

In this second part of “The Baddest Taquero”, Isidro describes how his Dad was a taco truck pioneer and about how he set himself apart from the rest of the taqueros of his time. Isidro’s Father’s idea to set a price point of $1.25 for a big taco was a brilliant idea from a marketing perspective! While others were offering a small taco, Isidro’s Father got customers to come in with a competitive price. Once they came in, they were hooked!

Isidro also mentions how his Dad corrected a potential mistake by listening. Even as a young boy, Isidro learned that respecting your customers means that you listen to them.

Listening is like, when you’re having a taco and the salsa gets truly absorbed by the carne asada. And when that happens – you’ve heard what that taco is saying. It’s probably saying, “I’m really good!”

Reach out! Whether you have a spot to recommend, a taco story to tell or just want to say hi, your love and kind words are the salsa on our taco:
